Actually, a Month to Remember
Hmmm, I spoke too soon when I said it was a Week to Remember. It was a month. Don't worry, everything was solved or near solved now. Anyway, the continued list.
- The car was half-fixed to make it drivable on one day by the collision shop, so that dada/boudi could take it around to Austin/San Antonio. Glad I could do it. Then I gave the car for repairs which took all of 17 days, during which time I drove a Alamo with Hertz, actually not a bad car with GPS enabled map-finder et. al. But, going to the shop multiple times, and hearing the story of Ed (the collision manager)'s negotiations and dealings with Farmers was a bit unnerving. Finally, it took about $4700 plus the car rental. I had to pay the $500 deductible.
- Also, did a inspection service on the car, replaced brake pads, etc with my car with Key Auto Werks. And it took me almost $900. No wonder they call M3's as white elephant. But, well the driving pleasure more than makes up for it. But, realized why my bro couldn't keep it with him during his MBA. :)
- My landlady of the old garage apartment, Dr. Marie Richards, refused to give back my $450 deposit for the house. I explained to her the circumstances I had to move out in, to no avail. I then contacted a lawyer through Rice, who gladly took up the case for me and will be pursuing it. Seemingly, I have enough rights in Texas as tenant, so as to not being forced to live in a dilapidated house.
- Had a major adductor muscle pull, due to sudden vigorous swimming in the cold without stretching, I suppose. It stayed on for almost a week, and I could barely walk without heavy dose of painkillers.
- Right a week after that, had very high temperatures running to 103 F. That stayed for almost 10 days, and finally I had to take a course of anti-biotics to get it to go.
- Had a liquid nitrogen treatment for a wart (Human Papiloma Virus - HPV) which had a little growth on my thumb. They basically burnt it like a frost-bite, and killed the virus along with the skin around it. It was black skin for 2 weeks before it fell of and now it's fine, except that part is white now, waiting for the skin to grow back.
- I got a notice from IRS saying that my tax filing of 2002 was not correct. Had to go to their office twice at 8 AM, with all proofs, which I had to scrounge around for, and spend 4 hours to resolve it. Finally, they gave me all clear, saying my filing was correct. Stupid people.
- Shifted my house again today to my (hopefully) final resting place till I leave Houston. Took up a 1-bed room apartment. Thankfully, many of my friends helped me shift, as I was too weak to do much of the shifting. But, still the packing and cleaning took all day.
