Good news from home

Initially dejected at BJPs loss in the elections, now I am pretty delighted at Manmohan and congress becoming the head of the government. BJP potrayed the progressive face of India, but did not have it's heart in the right place for the masses. Now, with Manmohan at the helm, and supported by communists, we are again leaning towards socialism, which is sorely needed in a poor country like India.
So, Manmohan's mantra of "development with a human face" strikes a chord in me. Welcome Mr. Singh.

An American's view

Was talking (rather loudly) about the illegal barbaric American occupation of Iraq with an American. He accepted that the Iraqi occupation was wrong. Though not without saying that Bush invaded Iraq because Iraq was firing rifles at the planes patrolling Iraq's skies. I could only laugh. But, he said US should not withdraw now, as that would lead Iraq to further chaos.

And I say - what further chaos can there be than so many Iraqis killed, brutalised, tortured each day at American soldier's hands. America should apologize to the world, hand their heads in shame, beg UN to take over the running of the country till popular Iraqi government is restored, get their butt kicked out of the country, and pledge never ever to pertain this barbarism to any country ever. And they should remember that one American soldiers life has the same value as one Iraqi's life. not more, not less.
So, stop killing. And if you do support your soldiers, ask them to come back home.

The failure of US journalism

An excellent report from AlJazeera
"Before, during and after the war, mainstream commercial journalists have failed to provide the critical analysis, independent reporting, and the diverse range of opinions necessary for the American public to evaluate the Bush administration’s claims
about the war."

It has been a huge disapointment for me to see the partisan viewpoint presented by the whole of american media. No wonder the American people grow up to be such insular and dumb with respect to anything outside US. They have no respect to cultures, tradition, and humanity of other cultures. It is so different talking to an average American compared to say an average asian or european - the depth and breadth of their knowledge on anything other than comic strips, sitcoms, baseball, and football is appalling.
